News Update: Metro train completes first journey from Tallawong to Sydenham

A metro train has successfully completed its first continuous journey from Tallawong to Sydenham, marking a significant milestone ahead of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest opening next year. This achievement follows six months of meticulous planning and is a pivotal advancement in the rigorous testing and commissioning program initiated in April 2023. The entire 51.5 km test run of

the full alignment was completed in four hours.

With metro services commencing in the city in 2024, the journey between Tallawong and Sydenham will be reduced to just 59 minutes, offering passengers a fast and reliable metro connection every four minutes during peak hours. Soon, we'll be able to reach Sydenham by train in just an hour!
